The talented singer, songwriter and producer, has released a new single titled “Anybody out There” as of the 7th December. The song features strong themes of love, and other people’s company, sometimes even what happens when these things are missing.

Astræa is well known for the dark synth-pop influences that are well found in her music, some examples are the covers “Mad World” and “You’re Not Alone”, which are arranged, produced and recorded by herself. These new versions of already made music help us better notice and appreciate the aesthetic and sonic landscape that this artist has to offer, as well as it leaves us wondering where else can she go with her sound.

The lyricism is also a very important part of the newest single, combining a very spacious and ethereal vocal delivery with lyrics that have undoubtedly touched more than one person:

“It is the distance
That makes life a little hard
Two minds that once were close
Now so many miles apart”

By themselves, the lyrics are already quite sad and relatable more many people, but along with the atmosphere set by the swelling synthesizers and the mellow melody of the piano, the majority of the song is truly a hard-hitter, which is what has caught most of the listeners.

Her style is somewhat similar to Cigarettes After Sex, who utilize similar atmospheres with sensual lyrics and luscious synthesizers to create the feel they do in each song.

This new single is guaranteed to make her listeners even more engaged with her style, as it is a nice twist to her previous music, but it never breaks the engaging feel that she brings with the discussed combination of melancholic lyrics and big room synthesizer feel.

On her website we can see that she will play a set at St. James’s Church, in London. This indicates a more international approach to her music, which will very possibly bring attention to her from worldwide musical media.
