Fake Laugh has established himself as a serious contender now as an artist that can compete in the streaming charts with his unique sound and brand.

Fake Laugh which was started as a side project by London based artist Kamran Khan, whose debut album in 2017 impressed both audiences and critics alike, has grown his reputation extensively, and he is now able to claim to be one of the most exciting and creative artists releasing music to mainstream audiences. 

‘If you don’t wanna know’, lyrically is very straight forward. That’s not a criticism, that is completely deliberate, the hook of this song is not in the complexity of the vocal line, the focus of where the song will take you as the listener is with the bright guitars and light, soft vocal from Kamran Khan himself. The sound the guitars produce is clear, with nice compression, that when a harmony line joins in, is a little reminiscent of Hank Marvin’s Shadows. However this song develops, it layers, with strings, synths and beats that break and change tempo to give a lovely texture, with the texture and clarity of the vocal remaining constant. It’s really effective as production tool that allows for the flow of the song to always be engaging, and yet change enough to split each section up to allow for diversity of instrumentation to shine through. 

This song has a certain bounce and rhythm to it that I think a lot of people will like. The melody line has an innocence to it, with clever blends of older pop music, combined with modern production make Fake Laugh’s latest release a really interesting blend that I think will appeal to a wide audience.
