It's been 7 years since Ella Eyre’s collaboration with Rudimental on the award winning ‘Waiting all Night’, which went on to win the 2014 Brit award for single of the year.

Further collaborations have kept her busy, as well as stints on the X Factor, supporting Olly Murs and even a go at celebrity Great British Bake Off to name but a few. At still only 25 she has packed an incredible amount into such a short space of time and you feel that all of her experiences will secure some more individual success over the coming months and years.

‘New Me’, as you would expect, is a reinvention of a person, a way to move on from a past that leaves a shadow over you. With phrases like ‘Ella ain’t here it’s a new me’ suggesting that there is a truth to this reincarnation, whether professionally in her music, or in her personal life, or possibly both. Having said that, there is a sense of fun with some sampled laughing in the early parts of the song and a range of other vocals that pop in and out of the arrangement. With subtle harmonies that appear and fade again, second vocals sparring off Ella’s main melody there is a real dynamism in this edgy, pop release. The beat gives you a latin feel with accompanying keys that really drive the song. What Ella Eyre does with her lead vocal is showcase her excellent range, which has elements of soul, but blends and flows to make this a huge song. In interviews, Ella Eyre has said that this was one of her favourite songs to write and produce and you can hear that in the final product. There is energy all the way through, there is excellent production and the lyrics are clever and have rhyme, that along with the backing in the track will keep people on the dancefloor and wanting more of this type of music.

Whether New Me defines a new personal chapter in Ella Eyre’s life, I think it will certainly mark a new part of her professional one. With lots of media attention already surrounding this release, be prepared to hear a lot more about Ella Eyre and her solo projects over the coming months.
