Tim Chadwick learnt his craft in Dublin’s singer songwriter venues and quickly enhanced his reputation as a powerful songwriter, who wasn’t afraid to put real emotion into his music. Sore Thumb is no different, it is refreshing in the way it tackles personal issues, which the more you read about Tim Chadwick, the more you respect him as a person and musician.

Sore Thumb is a song that is honest and tells us a lot about Tim Chadwick and I think a lot of new listeners will like him for it. The lyrics are sad, but with edges of comedy that made me smile and created a picture of Tim at a party, all dressed up just drinking the Champagne. I expect that there are many other artists who feel the same, and with phrases like: ‘I hate to act up just so they like me.’ you sense that the putting on a show that just isn’t you doesn’t fit with with Tim Chadwick’s way. The use of Sore Thumb as a title is his feeling of sticking out in crowds like a sore thumb, like he shouldn't be there, or feels uncomfortable in the environment he finds himself in. Whilst that is undoubtedly part of the industry, this track shows a talent that cannot be wasted. A voice as smooth and accurate as some of the worlds best, lyrics that tell a vivid story and a simple, yet catchy melody that has added harmonies as the phrases build up to put Sore Thumb in serious contention in this weeks releases. The orchestration is beautiful, with rich full organ like synths flowing through the verse and a simple drum beat, with hand claps to provide the momentum; then a that break and you’re into the chorus.

I don’t think many people will be forgetting Tim Chadwick’s name as he alludes to in Sore Thumb. This song will be played a lot this week and hopefully beyond, it is clever, wonderfully written and musically unique and original. Tim has tweeted that this song is ‘like deflating yourself to give others more air’ and whilst we all know that feeling, we hope that this young talent will continue to give us these beautifully crafted songs.
