Lovelytheband released their debut single ‘Broken’ in 2017 and since then have really taken advantage of the publicity. Their initial release saw them top the alternative charts for 9 weeks and gave them an exposure most bands only dream of.

Made up of Mitchy Collins on vocals with Jordan Greenwald on guitar and Sam Price on drums, the trio have already established a bit of association to the image of a kiss with red lipstick which to have an already recognisable emblem is quite impressive. It took the Rolling Stones far longer to be associated with the now legendary tongue!

The sound of ‘Loneliness for love’ is big from the word go. The start is a simple synth, joined by a guitar, but for seconds. The more power comes from more synths that cut out again, as soon as they arrived, to allow for Mitchy Collins to deliver a clear and crisp vocal. The rhythm, melody and lyrics are really catchy, they flow nicely together and give the song, which in essence quite a sad track a sense of energy. The texture cuts in and out and I can feel that when this is performed live audiences are going to go mad for the chorus. The guitar rhythm is catchy and pushes the accompaniment along, whilst the synths provide a polyphonic rhythm over the top.

If you’ve never heard Lovelytheband, this song seems like a good place to start. It is wonderfully concocted, with the key ingredients to get people singing along. If you watch the video, you can see the band performing and you can see their chemistry and partnership working really closely to produce this, which emphasizes the fact that this song would be an absolute favorite in their live shows.
