You might be thinking the name sounds familiar, and if you’re not a Scissor Sisters fan, then you would be forgiven for misplacing Jake Shears’ face.
However, once you put the two together you’ll remember that he has been the singer that brought energy back to the mid 2000s music scene with some great dance floor fillers like, ‘Take Your Mama’, ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancing’ and ‘Laura’ to name but a few. Now he is releasing music as a solo artist and we hope that he will keep the energy and humour in the tracks that we have come to know and love him for.
Don’t worry, you get energy in bucket loads. With his distinctive falsetto voice, Meltdown starts with a bang! Smooth funk guitar chops, tight drums and synths that power you through this movement filled track. Vocal loops and great use of some of disco’s iconic synth and organ breaks make this track incredibly interesting. With breaks, high tempo and overdubbed harmonies in sections, you can hear this being played to packed clubs around the world. The sharp breaks, whilst laid back get your attention even more and you sense that the band playing with Jake love this track as much as we’re going to.
It’s great to know that there is a huge market for acts like Jake Shears and his brand of disco blend of funk and pop. The tempo is awesome and your head won’t stop bobbying all the way through.
