There are many brilliant young musicians that now have various new avenues to get their music heard.
It seems the UK music industry is again leading the way in finding and harnessing these incredible talents. JC Stewart is an artist amongst them who’s probably edging ahead, the reason - he writes and produces songs that seem to be timeless.
The Northern Irish artist, who seemed destined to be the next JC Stewart grocer of the family firm has found himself writing with Lewis Capaldi in Hollywood and the rest, as they say is history. There’s lots of parallels between the two in terms of their song creation, but both are incredibly individual which is why JC Stewart could very likely hit the heights of his friend Lewis Capaldi over the next few months.
The title ‘Lying That You Love Me’ pretty much sums up the subject of the song. It takes us through a journey of loss, and strangely admitting that he ‘misses you lying that you love me’, which when you think about it, is a much deeper meaning that reaches an honesty that many contemporary tracks don’t go anywhere near. The production of this song also shows why JC Stewart is a stand out talent, with simple piano, which he plays, showing that his composition is really fluent. His delivery is extremely slick and the vocals are so precise that he doesn’t need anything else to showcase his work than his voice and a piano. These songs stand the test of time, and the main hook of the chorus has a catchy repetitiveness to it that doesn’t leave you feeling bored by it - you want to sing along with it more and more. JC Stewart has a voice that is clean, yet raunchy, letting you hear the raw emotion in the delivery and connecting much better than many new releases. What I felt after listening to this track was that I imagine JC Stewart is a great live performer. His vocal shows passion and the simple delivery would transfer well to a live audience environment.
It’s an absolute pleasure to listen and review this song. A real craftsman at work, with talent as a singer, pianist and composer. The message of the song is clear, it never drifts off point and the more you find out about JC Stewart, the more you learn how diverse he is as a musician and that is a great ingredient for an artist to really show the test of time.
