Calvin Harris, a DJ and producer from Scotland, has gone from releasing his music himself online to selling millions under his own name during the 2000’s and 2010’s.
He started out producing electronic music as a teenager. In 2013 he was named Forbes’ highest earning DJ after his 2012 breakthrough with ‘18 Months’ which involved guest vocalists including Rihanna and Ellie Goulding. Calvin Harris describes how he likes to obtain inspiration from classic sounds and apply them to modern elements, incorporating every kind of music from each genre.
What the world needs is a message of hope and what more could you have than a repeated lyric of ‘feel the power of love’ to launch you into a high energy upbeat dance track. Although released a few weeks ago, this song needs to be back in our minds, promoting happy, energetic and uplifting beats to get us moving. Calvin Harris is an exceptional producer, with an ear for breaks and beats that just fit beautifully together to create a track that has a timeless edge to it. You can sense that as a music lover himself, he delves into his archives to grab some wonderful combinations of genres to compose his tracks. The vocal repeats, but has a variety of instrumentation behind it that make each section of this song a new adventure for us to go on. This will undoubtedly be high on peoples playlists over the coming weeks and months, helping us engage with a high energy track that gets your feet tapping and your head nodding.
With straight talking, simple beats and a flow that is completely unique, Calvin Harris has again proved why he is now, and will be for a long time, regarded as one of the worlds most gifted and talented producers.
