Multi-talented artist and songwriter KIDDO from Stockholm uses urban influences and vintage vibes to create her music.
She has a compelling musical signature, similar in many ways to the global artist ‘Dua Lipa’. Her take on pop music is very futuristic and memorable as shown through her lyrics. Her collaboration here with Jim Ouma is going to give us a great glimpse into the world of a pair of revolutionary artists. Jim Ouma is a project made by hip hop producers Astma & Rocwell. With roots in hip-hop and Caribbean music, the debut single ‘Beg’ was released in January 2020 and their name is already making big noises in the music industry.
A retro chord progression brings in a wall of noise at the beginning of ‘Bang My Head’ which stays in one form or another. There are lots of different vocals that accompany the main hook, it’s a busy song in terms of voices, but it always keeps its form to show the laid back vibe that lets you hear the chords move through the track and showcase a really unique sound. A hard guitar drives the progression, met with other effects, but not too much, it provides a sense of difference in what is a very short release. Kiddo has a great voice that cuts through this mix and provides a strong melody that has a lot of class about it. There are times when I think we could be hearing this played out of a bar sitting peacefully on the mediterrian coast, and then the changes make me feel that the implicit energy would suit a club vibe and fill a dancefloor quickly.
Whatever your take on music, this provides a great soundtrack to whatever you’re doing. It fits if you’re trying to relax and unwind, but it also energies you if you need that kick. Not many songs can do that and this is certainly a rare quality that this collaboration has been able to create here.
