Boyzlife is Boyzone's Keith Duffy and ‘Westlife’s Brian McFadden, which now you know makes the name of the duo easier to understand!
Keith Duffy has had six number one singles in the UK and five number one albums with the band. Overall Boyzone reached sales of over 25 million worldwide. McFadden has experienced similar success with Westlife including 12 number ones in the UK and Ireland. The band achieved four number one albums and over 30 million worldwide sales in total. Since the two came together to create ‘Boyzlife’ they have already amassed an extensive following and performed for over 20,000 fans with their biggest hit tracks. Their shows are a combination of Boyzone and Westlife songs which is classed ‘as a show not to be missed’.
With strings bringing you into ‘You Needed Me’ and even a harp, you know from the very off that this is clearly going to be a ballad that pulls at your heart strings. Both vocals carry leads and are clear in their delivery, but contrast each other enough to make the combination really effective and easy to distinguish. The instrumentation throughout is classical, flutes and more strings are added to fill the track. As the second verse comes in we hear a tight harmony bringing in another dimension to the song. The lyrics are beautiful in their admiration for a partner and friend that means the backing needs to be kept as simple as possible to allow for the sincerity of the song to shine through. As you would expect in a song like this, there is a key change that hits during the middle 8, but it comes back in with another harmonised chorus that allows us to fully appreciate the purpose to the lyrics.
This has similarities to Boyzone and Westlife in terms of creation, but actually is far enough away to give Boyzlife an opportunity to galvanise new fans through the delivery and texture of a song that is effortless in delivery and will appeal to a huge demographic because of its creation and style.
