Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ Is One Of The Most Electrifying Records Of The Year

Disco has made a serious resurgence this year and Lady Gaga’s ‘Chromatica’ might just be the peak of this nostalgic trend. And it looks like it’s the perfect remedy to take us into the heat of summer.
As per usual, Gaga’s energy is unmatched. Every single feature out of the album is bursting with glamour, confidence, and an irresistible combo of spark and talent. Though it was originally set to get released on April 10, Gaga had to push back the release by a couple of months. However, the eclectic, euphoric tracklist proves that it was very much worth the wait. From the lead single ‘Stupid Love’, a sweeping epic disco anthem, to ‘Plastic Doll’, a techno-house romp through the singer’s own psyche, every tune is built on elaborate arrangements, electrifying charisma, and the Mother Monster absolutely nailing down why everyone is drawn to disco.
Lady Gaga has had a fascinating unique career of late but she really goes back to basics in ‘Chromatica’. Not only does she completely own the realm of dance and electro pop but she also recognizes that it’s the much-needed healing solution for the current circumstances. The synth has become an extension of her voice and the way she employs psychedelic arrangements of synth guitars, electric guitars, and percussions to mess with the mind is truly remarkable. She’s also enlisted the likes of Ariana Grande and K-pop heavyweight Blackpink for some of the tracks — appealing to such a larger crowd as a result. She also collaborates with Elton John with ‘Sine From Above’ and it’s a catchy, otherworldly ballad that will strike a chord in you. Containing both religious and spiritual elements, the song moves through with a fast-paced tempo and absolutely killer, blusterous vocals from both Gaga and John.
Speaking on what kind of record she wants Chromatica to be seen as, Gaga said, “We are definitely dancing... I put all my heart, all my pain, all my messages from the other realm that I hear of... what they tell me to tell the world and I put it into music that I believe to be so fun and you know, energetically really pure. I want people to dance and feel happy. I would like to put out music that a big chunk of the world will hear, and it will become a part of their daily lives and make them happy every single day.”
