Premiered today, Katie Melua returns with her latest track ‘A Love Like That’. The song and video gives a James Bond-esque feel, evoking a strong image and mood backed by an impressive orchestral arrangement.

This is the first song to be released from Melua’s forthcoming 8th album due in autumn. Her last LP was released in 2016.

The video for ‘A Love Like That’ opens up to scenes of glamour, featuring British actor Billy Howle (Star Wars, Chesil Beach, Dunkirk). A prominent part shows an aerial shot of Katie driving down a straight road in a classic Porsche sports car - also quite reminiscent of a scene from Bond.

The stunning visuals flow with Melua’s mesmerising vocals. The song delivers a relaxed chilled out vibe, finding the perfect balance with a cast of exceptional musicians including; drummer Emre Ramazanoglu, flautist Jack Pinter, and The Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. The sentiment of turbulent to calm can be heard throughout.

‘A Love Like That’ is Melua’s most personal song yet, which explores her own philosophies on love and life, including the trials and tribulations.

Speaking about the writing process of ‘A Love Like That’, Melua says, “This song is asking the essential timeless question about mad love, ‘How do you make a love like that last?’ But before it became about love between a couple, it started its life centred on my relationship with work and the stamina required to keep being an artist in the music industry. It was only after my co-composer Sam Dixon and I wrapped our session, that I retreated to a cottage in the Cotswolds for 3 weeks to wrestle with the song’s lyrics. ‘A Love Like That’ continues a narrative that is across the new album. And in the context of love - it is about having the courage to speak openly and freely.”

Boasting 56 platinum awards, Katie Melua is one Britain's most successful musical artists. Her biggest hits include ‘Nine Million Bicycles’, ‘The Closest Thing to Crazy’, ‘Perfect World’, and a famous cover of ‘Wonderful Life’. Although holding such accolades, Katie Melua feels to be quite understated as an artist.
