From the howling vocal ad-libs to the intricate piano interludes with weaving musical arpeggios, this Avant-garde, from the howling vocal ad-libs to the intricate piano interludes with weaving musical arpeggios, this Avant-garde, freak folk style new release is organized chaos in audible form.
The structure of her songs uses key changes and dissonant chords, making this album sound happy and sad at the same time, hopeful, but then dark and twisted. This moody 5th studio album by musical prodigy, Fiona Apple is sure to please the quixotic ear, and provoke abstract thought with it’s brain-teasing and detailed lyrics.
Her voice can fluctuate between soft and sweet, and an aggressive growl, making her one of the most memorable alternative female voices on the music stream.
The production on this record as before mentioned, is very experimental, with one of the songs projecting dogs barking in the background and other ambient sounds.
