British singer, songwriter and model Foxes has continued her busy year by releasing her third new song of 2020, titled Friends In The Corner.
It follows in the footsteps of Love Not Loving You, which landed back in May, and the ballad Woman, both new tracks marking a return to the limelight for the singer who had been on hiatus since the release of her last album All I Need in 2016.
Foxes – otherwise known as Louisa Rose Allen – released her debut album Glorious in 2014. It spawned the top 20 hits Youth, Let Go For Tonight, and Holding Onto Heaven. The followup’s lead single, Body Talk, was a top 25 hit and saw Foxes claim a Guinness World Record for the most live concerts in 12 hours in multiple cities after she debuted the track during a one-day tour of seven UK cities.
Friends In The Corner is a great teaser for a long-awaited upcoming new album. It’s a pulsating summer pop anthem that pairs a gentle piano melody and rousing drums with a soaring chorus and Foxes’ stunning voice.
Writing on her official Facebook page, Foxes said: “This song is really close to my heart, and I’m so glad I can finally share it with you. Thanks to Josh Trigg and everyone in the team that helped me bring this song to life, I absolutely adore this video. It’s about friendship, love, loss, and the recognition of how impermanent life is. In a world where connection has become so challenging we need to remember to keep each other close.”
In another post, she wrote: “I’ve really got the sense that there’s a lot of people struggling at the moment. We are definitely in strange times – and if something good can come out of this experience it’s our collective recognition that we all struggle with our mental health to some degree.
“I’d like to do my part in making it less of a stigma and more of something that’s absolutely normal to talk about - I’m not sure how much I’ve shared but I know a lot of you realise through my music that I’ve had my own struggles with mental health throughout the years. So I’d like to share things that have helped me through my difficult periods and try to find ways we can all feel more connected together. Sending love to anyone that might need it today.”
