Swedish rockers Perfect Plan are back with their second album Time For A Miracle, the followup to 2018’s All Rise.

The group, who formed in 2014, have undergone a change of personnel since the release of their debut, with Mats Bystr?m replacing P-O Sedin on bass guitar, and joining Kent Hilli (vocals), Rolf Nordström (guitars and backing vocals), Leif Ehlin (keyboards and backing vocals) and Fredrik Forsberg (drums and backing vocals) in a new-look lineup.

Musically though things remain relatively unchanged. Instead, Time For A Miracle feels like the next step for the band and their sound, building on the melodic rock of their first release with some slicker and occasionally heavier songs.

Album opener and title track Time For A Miracle is a good example, pairing rasping electric guitars with tight, snarling drums, while Better Walk Alone mixes some 80s-feeling keys and synths with Hilli’s soaring vocals that lend the track an almost operatic feel.

What About Love features a stratospheric chorus and lets Nordström loose with some finger-shredding solos, while Nobody’s Fool tears along at a frightening tempo and packs some bluesy licks, before Just One Wish slows things down with a tender track built around a big riff.

Fighting To Win takes us skillfully into piano ballad territory, and is a sweet moment on an otherwise high octane album. Writing on their official Facebook page about the song, which is their new single, the band said: “We want to dedicate this song to our wives and spouses, our children and the rest of our families, friends and fans for always being there for us. We also would like to thank the best label in the world, Frontiers Music SRL. Thank you so much for all the love and support you have given you to enable this album to become a reality.”

With Time For A Miracle, Perfect Plan have shown all that support is well earned and well deserved. Watch the official lyric video for Fighting To Win here.
