Music mashups tend to be very hit and miss. They can either be masterful and brilliant or sad and tedious, often with little in between. But when done right, they can become pieces of art and music history. This latest offering, a delicious blend of Lady Gaga’s pop masterpiece “Just Dance” and rockers Linkin Park’s “Faint” created by YouTuber William Maranci, is absolutely done right.

Listening to each track individually, you could be forgiven for thinking there is no way this mashup would work. The songs are so markedly different, not just in musical style, but in tempo, feel, rhythm, and most obviously, theme. Gaga’s dance floor filler in pure pop gold, while Linkin Park brings a darker, grittier edge. But put the two together and the result is nothing short of wow.

Blending these two totally different pieces of music has created something new and so ridiculously fun, it is sure to lift your mood no matter what your musical preference is. Whether you are a fan of pop or rock, or even both, the mixture of the two songs creates something that all can enjoy.

Gaga’s “Just Dance,” a poppy dance track all about getting drunk and dancing your troubles away during a fun night out on the town first exploded onto the scene way back in 2009. Cut to 11 years later, and Lady Gaga has become one of the most iconic and recognisable voices and faces in music, and more recently, film and TV. Her raw talent, and uncompromising fearlessness in her presentation and willingness to tackle taboo topics, has assured her legendary status.

Linkin Park’s “Faint,” was released in 2003 on their “Meteora” album and became an almost instant fan favourite. The lyrics are deeply emotive and powerful and speak to a far less happy theme than “Just Dance.” The focus here is on the frustration of not being heard, not being valued, and being disregarded by someone you deeply care for. In typical Linkin Park fashion, they convey the agony with masterful words and catchy hooks, pairing their signature rap blend in with the rock.

Make sure you check this one out. When these two magnificent tracks come together, you are treated to a storm of fun and enjoyment that is sure to put a smile on your face.
