Hannah Grace’s “Closer” Captures The Magic Of Flirtation Through A Groovy Harmony

Hannah Grace’s new single ‘Closer’ is a daring pop adventure that pays homage to the groovy sixties in all the right ways. It rides on an unexpected melody that takes twists and turns at each and every note, setting itself apart from every other up-and-coming feature. The Welsh singer has had a dazzling couple of years and her willingness to experiment with distinct genres and arrangements has led to yet another enchanting production. Hannah Grace’s vocals are fairly standard, but the way she delivers those mischievous verses elevates the composition tenfold. The most memorable aspect of the song is the high-pitched harmony that drives the chorus; Grace is able to punch those soaring notes with ease without losing any of the momenta.
The instrumentation accompanies the vocals beautifully without taking away from its magic. The upbeat percussion is enough to move the verses forward and keep the listener intrigued, while Grace is able to execute those vocal runs with aplomb. The bridge does see the instrumentation ramp up with a grandiose jazz arrangement as Grace herself launches into some remarkable riffs. Soon after, everything halts, and Grace chimes in again with her soft-as-a-feature voice. The tune touches upon the familiar trajectory of infatuations and flirtations, where butterflies run amok and love has taken over all sensations. The dynamic, soul-infused pattern of instrumentation only underscores the celebratory mood of the tune.
Though the twenty-seven-year-old artist has a few EPs under her belt, this song marks as a single from her first studio album Remedy. The album is set to be released on November 20, 2020, via Never Fade Records. Grace has a fine career ahead of her as she’s already earned applauds from prominent artists, including Lady Gaga and Barbara Streisand. Grace also had her largest show to date at Streisand’s set at Hyde Park.
Speaking on ‘Closer’, Grace said, “It’s one of my favourite songs to sing. For me, the song sums up the excitement and joy that comes from connecting with someone new, or finding new love. The song is about feeling seen, listened to and truly appreciated.”
