Arlo Parks, the London-born rising star of indie-pop with the utterly mesmerising voice, is back with her powerful new single Green Eyes, as well as news of her hotly awaited new album which will be out next year and is called Collapsed in Sunbeams.

Green Eyes is not unlike previous single Black Dog, a beautifully captivating, raw, and honest track that NME called the “year’s most devastating song”. It retains a feeling of that track, a soft, absorbing rainy day song with intricate guitar flourishes set against a low-fi beat. It’s a lyrically powerful song too, as Parks sings: “I wish that your parents had been kinder to you / They made you hate what you were out of habit / Remember when they caught us makin' out after school / Your dad said he'd felt like he lost you”.

Writing on her official Facebook page, Parks also announced the news. “Green Eyes is out now - thank you Zane Lowe and Apple Music for premiering it and thank you to king Clairo for lending her gorgeous voice to the tune. As well as the song, I want to announce my debut album Collapsed in Sunbeams, it’ll be with you on 29th of January 2021. I poured my tears, blood and joy into this project. Oh my gosh I can’t believe I’m finally saying this man, I’m tearing up a bit as I write this… can’t wait for you to hear it!!!”

Parks, who has released two EPs to date (Super Sad Generation and Sophie) was longlisted as a breakthrough artist in the BBCs Sound of 2020. She only performed her first gig in 2019, and has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame since dropping her debut single Cola through Beatnik Records in 2018, winning over critics and fans alike with her beautifully mournful voice and songs to match.
