One Cure for Man has just dropped another gorgeous new single, following on from his May 2020 release, “Haunted.” Also known as James Parkinson, One Cure for Man is once again showing his amazing ability to take inspiration from the most heartbreaking losses, to teach and encourage us, through his apt and eloquent lyrics and catchy musical style.
The new track, “Humble” is a stunning piece of music, that will strike your feels and have you remembering those you have lost, while also providing a hopeful and uplifting vibe. It teaches us to remember the past, to treasure our precious memories, but not to become too lost in them. To instead learn, grow, and move forward, while we allow the joy and sadness of our pasts to help shape who we will ultimately become.
The music is upbeat and will get your toes tapping, yet also feels soothing, and, also, respectful to those that Parkinson has lost who inspired this track. It also contains a glorious, yet suitably understated guitar solo which fits the overall tone of the track to perfection. The blending of acoustic and electric guitars not only provides a solid platform for Parkinson’s impressive vocal skills, but it also feels like a nod to the underlying message of the song, that splendid combination of old and new.
The accompanying video is sweet and heart-warming, featuring Parkinson’s adorable four-year-old son, eagerly exploring some old childhood haunts of his father’s. The juxtaposition of the past and present, the old losses viewed through the innocent and curious eyes of a child, is nothing short of incredible and pairs with the track beautifully. It also adds to the overall positive tone of “Humble.” While the main subject matter is sad, in listening to it, you very much get the sense that Parkinson wants us to stay brave in the face of tragedy, and find a way to cope with our own losses.
One Cure for Man has given us another piece of musical gold with “Humble.” Fantastic to listen to, a tender and thought-provoking tribute to those dear to him who are no longer with us, and yet another track we can all learn something from. Remember those that are gone but keep moving forward while holding them in your heart, and never underestimate the beauty and power of humility. Give this one a listen today.
