London-based singer-songwriter AJ Wander made plenty of people sit up and take notice when he dropped his powerful single Time Out back in November, and he’s not taking his foot off the gas. Just a few weeks later, and the talented young performer has followed up with his latest effort Way We Walk.

Recorded in Barcelona, it’s another stunning effort that is bound to win Wander new fans ahead of the release of his debut EP next year. Building from a gentle intro, Way We Walk quickly turns that walk into a run as it weaves its way through a big chorus and some soaring vocals. It’s a captivating listen, and one that draws you in, and demands multiple plays.

Lyrically it’s a deeply impressive affair too, as Wander sings: “Are we losing the battle we tried to save / Now we’re craving a break from the war / You pretend you’re OK and you’re glad you stayed / But I know he gave you more / Sweet burning Memphis fire / I pulled you across the wire / Looking for a light but it faded”.

As the son of a pianist, music has been a part of Wander’s life since he was young. Despite his tender years, he’s already spent time living in London and in Australia, and he honed his craft at the Academy of Contemporary Music. He then spent two years with the indie band Tors, ultimately leaving to pursue a solo career, one that is now clearly bearing fruit.

In a series of posts on his official Facebook page marking the release of Way We Walk, Wander said: “I didn't have much planned for the rest of the year so thought I should probably release some more music. My second single Way We Walk is coming out next Wednesday and I'm so damn excited to share it with all you beautiful people!

“I feel so bloody lucky to get to release another song before this weird year is over. 2020 has been a tough ride, but unexpectedly sharing my music has been the shiniest silver lining.”
