Dublin-based four-piece Post-Party only formed in late 2018, but are already winning over fans and attracting interest with their highly energetic live shows and ear for an up-tempo, fun and radio-friendly tune. On first listen, they’re most obviously comparable to the likes of Blossoms and Circa Waves, serving up as they do jangly guitar-driven numbers that can’t help but put a smile on your face.

Comprised of Keelan O'Reilly, Peter Toal, Colin Peppard and Matthew O'Reilly, the band have toured extensively across their homeland, including a number of sold out shows in the nation’s capital. They’ve shared the bill with fellow Irish bands including The Academic, The Murder Capital and Fangclub, supported Miles Kane and The Sherlocks, and headlined in London too. All of which goes to show that they’re a group that is certainly going places.

New single Being Honest makes it plainly obvious why, too. From a thumping intro the track quickly settles into a frighteningly catchy melody, with a slick riff and rousing drums that carry the song into a big, shout-along chorus. No question, it’s got the feel of an indie floorfiller to it.

Being four young men with the world at their feet, there is naturally a youthful exuberance and swagger to Post-Party’s sound, but there’s also a real confidence to much of the lyrics too. Being Honest is a track about spilling some uncomfortable truths, best encapsulated with snippets like “I don’t like your friends / They only see the flames / They say they are changing but keep treating you the same” and “I don’t like the way / That you stare at me / When you’ve had a bit too much and find it hard to see”.

It’s a great concept for a track, and it’s also accompanied by a gloriously offbeat video directed by Colin Peppard that sees the band don their gym kit to tell a Karate Kid-esque tale of revenge and retribution.

And that’s a good example of what Post-Party offer: feel-good indie pop that’s as fun as it is catchy. Who doesn’t want a bit of that in their life?
