Cousins Jonathan Capeci and Joey Beretta grew up and played in a series of bands together around Philadelphia throughout their teenage years, but it wasn’t until the duo relocated to Nashville to pursue success with their band at the time, Dinner And A Suit, that they began to attract wider attention. Dinner And A Suit ultimately disbanded, but undeterred, Capeci and Beretta formed a new group with friends Stephen Cunsolo and Nicholas Sainato, and signed a deal with Interscope Records in 2016.
Taking the name Nightly, that group dropped their debut EP Honest, which featured the 10 million-plus streamed single XO. A heavy touring schedule followed with support slots for the likes of Ke$ha, The All-American Rejects, Zella Day, K.Flay and NF, as well as their own headline tours. Their critically acclaimed debut album night, love you was released last year through their new label BMG.
Now Nightly are back with their latest offering, a four-track alternative EP named 'night, love you'. Fans of the band will be familiar with the tracklist – this is a re-worked selection of songs from night, love you. Describing the project on their official Facebook page, the band explained that it is a“ few alternate versions of songs from the album that we're making into a little EP.”.
Opening number Not Like You (Stripped) is a slick affair, losing none of the polish of its album counterpart. And that’s the case with all four tracks here, each new arrangement is hugely enjoyable, instantly recognisable, but with an entirely different feel to the full band versions. So Sly and Summer, in particular, feel like they have more room to breathe, but they still retain plenty of the bounce and fun of the originals. It’s a really clever collection and one that will appeal to fans and newcomers to Nightly alike.
Not Like You tracklist:
1. Not Like You (Stripped)
2. So Sly (Acoustic)
3. Summer (Acoustic)
4. Older (Live)
