Musician, filmmaker, and master of the macabre, Rob Zombie, has gifted us all with another taste of his forthcoming studio album, “The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy.” The second single to drop, “The Eternal Struggles of the Howling Man,” has everything we have come to know and love from Zombie and more. That dark, groovy vibe that seems to pervade all his music is keenly felt here, with lyrics that wow and give you that real horror movie feel.
Few artists are so able to effortlessly blend music and the horror genre, but Zombie seems like he was born to do it. The track is amazing and will have you tapping your toes along with the terror. Paired with a video that is endless fun and It follows from the first single “The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition) which landed in October last year.
John 5’s guitar work is the standout on this piece, shredding like the true pro he is and hitting us with some of the most impressive riffs we have ever heard. The thumping beats of Ginger Fish’s drums will get your heart going along with your head bopping, and along with Piggy D’s beautifully rhythmic bass, provides the perfect backbone for this awesome new track.
And on top of this masterful music, we get the signature growling vocals of the man himself, Rob Zombie. His voice carries the punchy lyrics to our ears in a way only he can. That deep baritone and haunting gravelly quality which is so ideally suited to his music style and themes of his work.
“The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy” will be Zombie’s seventh studio album and the first one in almost five years, with his most recent release being “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser” back in 2016. He recently revealed that “Lunar Injection” was actually completed two years ago. Discussing the reason for the delayed release in a recent interview with Revolver Magazine, Zombie explained:
"I like to make records over a long period of time. We'd work for a while, then we'd go on tour. We'd come back, we'd work for a while, then we'd go on tour, just live with the songs. And then just as I sort of thought, Oh, I'm going to put this out, we'll get rolling, is when '3 From Hell', my last movie, got rolling. So I'm like, Well, I'm not going to put out a record while I'm in the middle of making a movie because I can't do anything to promote it. So I waited till the movie stuff was over, and just as we were getting ready to go again, that's when the COVID stuff hits, and I'm, like, okay, we'll ride this out. We kind of looked at it and felt like, I dunno if we're riding this out, could go on forever. I was like, Let's just put the record out."
With a confirmed release date of March 12 2021, fans will get to enjoy this full album in all its glory very soon. And if the first two releases are anything to go by, it is going to be another true Zombie masterpiece.
