Review: Feels Right- Darius featuring Dune

Everything old is new again, but only if it “Feels Right”! With vintage synth stabs, and a rockin bass, Darius & Dune have created a laid back, danceable, head boppin tune that lifts experimental electronic music to a higher level.

It’s got this cool beat and funky groove, and trance-like oohs and ahhs, that create a very enjoyable sound, one that would fit in perfectly at any café or lounge around the globe, or you may just prefer, dancing alone in your room.

Dune’s vocals in the low register have a heap of warmth, and in the chorus, his falsetto tones are equally as soothing and suits the vibe to a tea.

The retro synth jazz chords will have you in a trance-like state, and this is really well balanced with the overall groove, which results in a track you can dance to, or simply chill along with, depending on your mood.

Dynamically, this groove gets the balance just right, by removing the bass drum in certain parts, and at other times removing both drum and bass, leaving the vocals exposed to the nice warm tones of the retro synth.

The bass interlude in the outro is a real highlight. This section of the song could have been extended by a few minutes (perhaps a 12 inch version), and I don’t think anyone would mind at all.

The lyrics explore sentiments of relationships, but not in an overtly deep way. This is great as you wouldn’t want the lyrical meaning to dull the vibe of this track at all, and you want the music to be the centre of a track like this.

The 80’s retro film clip is awesome. I love the old cassette deck, and I wonder if we will see a cassette revival, just like the vinyl revival we’ve experienced lately?

In “ Feels Right”, Darius & Dune have managed to blend; House, R&B, Funk, Electro Pop with elements of Trance into a retrospective melting pot and produce something unique. I think the title says a lot about this one, it just Feels Right.
