Brighton-based foursome Fickle Friends turned heads with their debut full length album You Are Someone Else back in 2018, a record that established their electro-infused alt-pop sound and set the group on their way to amassing nearly half a million monthly listeners on Spotify, led to tour dates to loving crowds up and down the country, and ultimately crashed into the top ten of the UK albums chart.

Comprised of Natassja Shiner (vocals, keyboards), Harry Herrington (bass, backing vocals), Sam Morris (drums), and Jack Wilson (keyboards), the group spent two relentless years touring across the UK and Europe, ticking off a remarkable 53 festival appearances along the way, before getting their big break when they signed with Polydor Records, and recorded You Are Someone Else in Los Angeles with award-winning producer Mike Crossey.

Fast forward to now and Fickle Friends are back with a new single – Alone – taken from their hotly anticipated new album Are We Gonna Be Alright, which is scheduled for a January 2022 release. It’s a typically catchy affair, an amalgamation of a smooth indie bassline layered with synths and keyboards, and Shiner’s distinctive vocals that weave a story of youthful exuberance, as she sings: “In the party with my boyfriend / And my girlfriend and my best friend / In my parents double bedroom / And they’re never gonna know / We been smoking in the kitchen / It’s a bad choice but who cares when / It’s the first time in a long time / That I haven’t been alone”.

Writing on their official Facebook page in response to the warm reception Alone has received, the band said: “Ahhhh thank you all so much for the love on ‘Alone’ over the weekend!!!!! We wrote this song as a kinda “f*** you to lock down times. Never take being with your friends for granted. They are everything! Keep playing it on repeat and sharing it with EVERYONE you know. Add it to your Halloween playlists.”
