With a promise of a full album after so many years of shining their talents to the world, DOMi & JD BECK gives the world a tease of what’s to come with their newest single, ‘WHATUP’.

To say that DOMi & JD BECK are some of the most interesting and talented voices in jazz would be an incredible understatement. Their blend of lofi with hyper-eccentric jazz is on another level from any other players in the jazz scene. ‘WHATUP’ is an extension of those ideas, extended to nearly three minutes. There’s something both hyperactive and relaxing about their music – the way the chords simply exist and carry away paired with the mind-melting solos and crazed rhythms on drums creates opposing forces like inverted magnets that, like a magnet, feels so attractive to listen and study. For a jazz fan, there are many gems within this composition – chord movements that’ll make your head spin, licks that take such wild roads to traverse those chords that’ll leave you both scratching your head and bobbing your head at the same time. For someone not familiar with the genres at play, it’s still an incredibly grabbing experience from start to finish. They know exactly how to explore each section without overstaying their welcome, Making those repetitions, though there are very few, unique thanks to either the grooves or the solos.

‘WHATUP’ is a masterpiece, though one familiar would expect no less from DOMi and JD BECK. Still, with such high expectations, the two have managed to make something beyond incredible. The musicianship within this single is bound to be studied, inspiring countless musicians to either attempt to get to their level or get into the world of jazz music. The video-game feel of the track is another particularity with ‘WHATUP’ that makes it all the more fun to listen to. Whatever is to come from their album is sure to be brilliant, with a song like ‘WHATUP’ as part of its track listing.
