Their latest release “The Cleansing Ultimate Edition” will hit you in all the right ways.

Back in 2007, American metal deathcore group Suicide Silence exploded onto the scene with their debut studio album, “The Cleansing.” In mid-2022, the 25th anniversary of that shockingly glorious release, they unleashed the Ultimate Edition. Featuring a staggering 15 bonus tracks, including two previously never before heard live versions, fans were champing at the bit for this one when it hit.

Yet now, almost five months after its release, “The Cleansing Ultimate Edition’ has seen renewed vigour on streaming platforms. It has lost none of its original punch, and proves to still be just as wild and vocal as it was in 2007.

“The Cleansing” has become legendary among not only deathcore fans, but the music world as a whole. It set the standard for the true edginess that is deathcore, adding that extra layer of mayhem by being entirely recorded live.

Despite the sometimes startling subject matter on several tracks, “The Cleansing” was a runaway success. It is one of the best selling debut albums and earned #94 on the Billboard Top 200. Indeed, MTV banned showing of the video for “The Price of Beauty,” feeling it was just too gory for their viewers. But this did not deter fans, if anything, it made Suicide Silence all the more appealing to the misunderstood youth of the early 2000s.

Two incredibly successful albums followed and then in 2012, the unthinkable happened. Frontman Mitch Lucker was killed from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was only 28 years old. It is ten years to the day that Lucker passed, and this reminder of what is and always will be, one of the greatest deathcore albums ever, feels truly apt.

If you are yet to check this one out, do yourself a favour and have a listen. It will defy all expectations and truly blow your mind. There are even limited prints available on vinyl.
