Mimi Webb signed to Epic Records at the tender age of 18, and now 4 years into her journey is growing from strength to strength. The British born singer-songwriter is developing an impressive list of releases and Red Flags, her latest offering is set to add to her collection of critically acclaimed work.

It’s quite clear from the first line how the words of Mini Webb’s new song will shape the feel of the track. Red Flags are those signs you sometimes have in a relationship that you know mean something is not right, but we carry on and try our best despite knowing it will not end happily.

Friends tell her it’s not right and there are signs of ex partners all over the place, and that really should be enough to know. But, we have all known someone, or maybe it’s us, that has been in that situation and with that in mind, this creates an immediate connection to the song.

What struck me from the very beginning is the distinctiveness of Mimi Webb’s voice. She most definitely does not fall into the trap of trying to sound American in her style! Her British accent can be heard, especially in the first sections where the instrumentation is stripped back. As the song builds there are effective overdubs of very echoey voices that give the song a real pop edge. The production moves the listener through different phases and keeps the song interesting throughout. There are some really unique percussion sounds too, that make this song stand out from other pop tracks at the moment. With the flow of the lyrics and the definite intent in the musicality I think this song is going to be another widely acclaimed track for Mimi Webb.
