Masked Wolf ‘Never The Same’ review: a powerful track with passion

Whilst now being in his 30s, the Masked Wolf is still a newcomer to mainstream music audiences around the world. This is thanks mainly to his hit Astronaut in the Ocean, that was a favourite of many in 2021. He has been writing for a long time and his experience and talent can be seen in his latest release, Never the Same.
If you’ve ever known someone, perhaps a friend, parent, sibling or partner who has made you lose faith in your own belief and ability, then never the Same will resonate with you. From the moments of doubt to the point of making something of yourself, it is hard to forgive someone who has made you feel worthless. Whilst Masked Wolf suggests that he has forgiven his tormentor, there is clearly a certain amount of passionate feeling towards his once perpetrator.
From a floaty intro, the rest of the song takes on a purposeful flow, that channels initial anger, but is now able to say look I did it, to whoever doubted. With often fast lyrics and melody, to a more flowing chorus, Never the Same is a well structured track that encompasses many of the talents that Masked Wolf has showcased across his short career. With a trap beat that pushes the song and creates a tension in the music, to the synths and overdubbed vocals that fill the sound, it’s clear that the importance of the lyrics should never be lost. The vocal has a heavy reverb on it that pushes it to the front of the mix and makes you hang off every word. This is a powerful track, with passion at its core.
