The Canadian born artist has been gradually building his fanbase over the last 9 years, releasing EPs in 2014 and 2015 before his first full studio album in 2017. His rise to global stardom has come quickly, with many prestigious nominations and wins to his name. His latest release comes from his third studio album, Never Enough.

With the challenges all couples face at the beginning of a relationship, Daniel Caesar bravely suggests that the relationship that is described in the song is unstoppable. From the first moments of unkind comments, there are clear signs of loyalty that are being shown and a key component of this match is the connection that the pair have. This theme is there throughout the song, until the last few minutes, when confusingly we hear 'I know you think you got me, but you lost me’ which is somewhat confusing to the whole song.

Musically, this is a chilled track, with elements of bass, synth and drums underpinning the melody line. There are sections that make this a really interesting piece to listen to, particularly in the middle as the instrumentation builds, this then leads to a drop out of all the accompaniment towards the end of the song. This goes some way to create a sense of loss and distance that the lyrics would suggest is the reliant of the relationship. What is quite wonderful about this mix, is it crosses genres effortlessly. You can hear the gospel influences, whilst at the same time the definite RnB vibe is there and is a powerful side.
