Hiatus Kaiyote: New single and upcoming concerts

After a two-year wait that felt eternal, Hiatus Kaiyote has finally released new musical material – a single with two tracks to listen to. Unfortunately, the second track is "Red Room," which is one of the most popular materials from their previous album “Mood Variant”. So, for this article, let's just focus on "Everything is Beautiful."

The song presents an interesting opening bass line along with an electric guitar improvising in a funky fashion. This release showcases the materials, styles and vocal virtuosity that Nai Palm has already accustomed us to. However, this time the music writing feels a little bit more simplified and less crazy than the songs released on Mood Variant. This, coupled with lyrics that, with simple words, celebrate the happiness and joy found in simple and small actions. For Nai Palm, it seems like happiness is just listening to music through headphones while wandering around the world.

The release coincides with news about an upcoming concert in Melbourne this February 29. They will be playing alongside an orchestra, and the orchestration will be arranged by Miguel Atwood Ferguson himself. This appears to be their most promising concert to date, especially with a legend like Ferguson, who has scored for D Jilla, Arthur Verocai, Glasper, and other legends.

This release will please loyal fans, but I believe it's one of their most accessible works to date, alongside “Nakamarra” and “Breathe Under Water”. So if you've never heard of Hiatus Kaiyote before, take the opportunity and give them a listen! You don't want to miss out on one of the most promising and popular neo-soul groups out there!
