Bella Poarch, in collaboration with 6arelyhuman, released a new track titled “Don’t Like Anybody.” Both artists have a really interesting path, which if you explained to a musician 30 years ago, would sound made up. But they are both prestigious within their certain genres and branches. Bella Poarch used to be just an enormous TikTok star, but the following she has amassed on streaming services also gives her a lot of validity for being a musical artist in the eyes of the public.

The track "Don’t Like Anybody" is one of the catchiest tracks I have heard in a while. Both of the artists bring their own unique vocal abilities to the mix. It is a very simple but good track, with everything other than the vocals working to support the vocals. In certain tracks, people might listen for deeper meaning or a place to drift away into their own thoughts. This track is more like something you just put on and it brightens up your day a little bit, nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes that is just what you need though. The theme of this song is a love saga about two party-goers who find themselves infatuated with each other and begin stating “I really just like you, I don’t like anybody.” Which is kind of a funny phrase that can be interpreted in different ways. It could be seen as a gesture of devotion, or it could be seen as making a promise and breaking it in the same sentence, because “how could you like me, you don’t like anybody?”. Either way, most lyrics are simple and being good at making something simple work this well can be just as hard as writing something very complex.

Odds are if you are not from this generation of 14-25 year-olds, you might not have heard about either of the artists in question. So I will give a little information. Bella Poarch is a Filipino-American social media star who got initial fame from TikTok where she made intriguing content. She gained widespread fame for her content on TikTok where she was lip-syncing and dancing. If you remember a “M to the B” TikTok video, that was probably Bella Poarch you remember. 6arelyhuman is an artist who very recently rose to prominence, mainly through posts on social media as well. The initial wave that seems to have carried 6arelyhuman was the edits they made of old school Japanese animated music videos (AMV’s) on YouTube and probably TikTok. I don’t know if I am losing you here, but both of these artists are hitting their own parts of internet culture very well. Even though Bella Poarch is much more mainstream.

When looking at the first videos 6arelyhuman put out, it feels like what everyone was trying to do on YouTube in 2007-2012, but nobody had the proper resources. Now, anybody can make high-quality stuff from home with enough dedication and it is easier than ever to hire people who are good at the things you are not. Amazing music production software, video editing software, and so much more allow artists to express their vision much easier without having to use, say, a big record label to guide them. This is a whole topic for another day but to summarize I am very glad to see the collaboration between both these unique artists who are doing their own thing. You should go check it out and see what you think!
