Jacob Alon has just released a new song called Don’t Fall Asleep. And to be honest, I almost did—not out of boredom, but because the song is so soothing it naturally invites relaxation. Don’t Fall Asleep is an indie/folk/pop track with a classic set of instruments, complemented by an atmospheric pad that lingers in the background. The guitar plucks through slightly unusual chord progressions, strings add warmth, and the drums propel the song forward like a steady steam locomotive.

I often find myself losing interest when a song relies solely on drums, bass, and guitar—it’s a formula that’s been done countless times. But Jacob Alon sets himself apart by taking these familiar elements and transforming them into something truly special. His arrangements, performances, and production are top-tier, not to mention the wonderfully soaring vocals. The instrumentation, in particular, deserves recognition—it’s beautifully arranged, played, and mixed.

In addition to Don’t Fall Asleep, Jacob has released a four-song single named after the track. I’m not entirely sure what the current strategy is for releasing music, but multi-track singles seem to be the trend right now. Either way, as long as Jacob is putting out music, I’m listening!

Don’t Fall Asleep is the perfect indie gem—ideal for road trips or slow mornings with a cup of coffee. It glides effortlessly into your ears and leaves just as softly. Jacob’s artistry feels deeply tied to nature—blue skies, trees, open landscapes—which perfectly aligns with the sound of his music. His work is a breath of fresh air in today’s indie scene, and I think many artists could draw inspiration from him.

So go ahead and give Don’t Fall Asleep a spin—you won’t regret it!
