Alessi Rose has released a new track called “Same Mouth,” and it immediately feels like it belongs in the current landscape of well-loved alt-pop and pop-punk. That said, Alessi brings her own spin to the sound. After a few listens, it’s clear you don’t need to reinvent the wheel to create something beautiful. “Same Mouth” feels free-spirited and emotionally open—like letting go of something that’s been holding you back. That feeling really comes through in the chorus and bridge.

This was my first time hearing Alessi, and from my perspective, the track sounds like a blend of early Taylor Swift with the softer, more introspective moments from My Chemical Romance. I say that because I love discovering artists who either share a familiar wavelength or offer a fresh take on a familiar sound.

Across genres like rock, punk, and pop-punk, I think a lot of the original raw energy has been diluted in recent years. I won’t call anyone out, but plenty of recent releases feel like they’ve been overly sanded down in the mix—stripped of their emotional grit. That’s why “Same Mouth” stands out. Whoever worked on this track with Alessi struck a rare balance between rawness and polish. The production feels alive and unfiltered, yet still controlled and clean. Big credit to Alessi for writing and toplining it, and to producers Josh Scarbrow and Sam de Jong for bringing it to life.

Instrumentation-wise, the track keeps it simple and focused: bass, guitar, vocals, and a few light elements that support without crowding. There might be some subtle synths or ambient layers in the background, but they’re tucked in with just the right touch. The result is a song that feels accessible and ready to play just about anywhere.

If you’re into pop-punk, alt-pop, or anything in that orbit, “Same Mouth” is well worth a listen.
