The music artist and producer known as Chris Hosford Jr. has released his latest hip hop single, “Battling My Demons.” The track has been proudly published as an independent release without the support or direction of the corporate music industry. It is the most prominent official release from Hosford to date and bears the distinction of being the final vocal recording of Chris Hosford Jr. in the arena of hip hop. Built on beats, vivid imagery and evocative lines and rhymes, “Battling My Demons” is evidence that Chris Hosford Jr. is a name to watch regardless of which genre he's in.
Asked to cite some main artistic influences, Hosford Jr. quips only, “Life experiences.” As it turns out, the autobiographical component of Hosford's rap lyrics is an important one, and especially where his new “Battling My Demons” single is concerned.
“This is my last hip hop song I will ever record lyrics on,” writes the artist. “I loved being a part of the music and indulging myself in the lyrics and performance and recording. It was fun.”
Chris Hosford Jr. spent years recording local artists for free to cut his teeth at music production, and spent years more graduating from Full Sail University with a bachelor of science in music production, followed by a master of science in entertainment business. After all this education and hands-on experience in music, Hosford's “Battling My Demons” has resulted.
“The song talks about how the hip hop industry affected me personally,” Hosford writes. “It pretty much gave me a false perception of what actually goes on in the industry. Goodbye, hip hop.”
Hosford grew up in southern New Jersey and has been making music since the age of 16. His father taught him how percussion rhythms are “driven by soul,” an audible element in “Battling My Demons.” He moved on to beatboxing and achieved some local popularity for his homegrown skills. He then began writing and performing rap. By 2006 he had started recording with a 16-track digital recorder and microphone his mother had given him for Christmas. Eight years later, he's still laying down fresh takes and mixing original music.
His current official bio says of his current pursuits: “Since graduation with his masters degree, Chris has been slowly planning out strategic ways to release records. All of this takes financial backing, so he has been hard at work saving money to fund his dreams and doesn't show any sign of stopping.”
Hosford had this to say to his fans on the occasion of his “Battling My Demons” release – “Stay tuned for my new releases, which will not be in the hip hop genre.”
“Battling My Demons” by Chris Hosford Jr. is available at over 700 digital music stores online worldwide.
