Adele breaks records with new single “Hello”
Adele has been making history with her new single “Hello”, already having smashed several records and proving that the star was sorely missed by fans.
“Hello” has already sold 1.11 million digital copies in the US, meaning that the track has achieved the most downloads in a week than any other track. This also meant that the new offering, Adele's first since 2012's “Skyfall”, went straight t the top of the US Billboard charts. It has also reached number one in the majority of Western countries, making it the most successful single that the singer has ever released.
The download record is particularly impressive given that its previous holder, Flo Rida sold a mere 636,000 copies of the single “Right Round”.
It's not just the single itself that is breaking records – the video for “Hello” reached 27 million Vevo views in the first day of its release. This smashed the previous record which was held by Taylor Swift.
Adele has also enjoyed immense success in her home country of the UK. Not only has she claimed the number one spot in the singles charts but she has also seen “Hello” become the biggest selling number one for three years. She looks almost certain to hold on to the top spot this week with “Hello” currently beating its nearest competitor, Justin Bieber's “Sorry” by a vast 45,000.
Adele doesn't seem to be losing any momentum either and has already announced that the next single to be taken from her upcoming album “25” will be “When We Were Young”.
