Brian Eno is described as one of music’s most innovative figures, known for his influential in ambient music and is a composer, singer and record producer.

His professional music career began in 1971 when he joined glam rock band Roxy Music as a synthesiser player. Having left the band in 1973, because of arguments with Bryan Ferry, he embarked on a solo career, recording several studio albums, which he continue to do so today, with his latest release “Reflection” issued in January 2017.

Having coined the term “Ambient Music”, he explains; “Ambient music must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without enforcing one in particular; it must be as ignorable as it is interesting.”

In the early 80’s, Eno began his renowned collaboration with David Byrne of Talking Heads, taking inspiration from his travels in Ghana. Their album “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts” uses extensive sampling, mixing African rhythms and electronic music techniques, and it gained positive reviews, reaching number 29 in the UK charts.

In 1995, Eno recorded a studio album with members of rock band U2, under the pseudonym Passengers. “Original Soundtrack 1” also featured Luciano Pavarotti but was not a commercial success, and today remains the poorest selling album in U2’s back catalogue.

Throughout his career, Eno has been much in demand as a record producer, working with artists that include Devo, Ultravox, James, Genesis and David Bowie. In 2007, he produced Coldplay’s fourth studio album which was resounding success, reaching number one in the UK charts, leading to a further collaboration in 2011 for their fifth album.

Eno is known for his strong political opinions and endorsed Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign in the Labour leadership election. In 2017, he was appointed as president of the Stop the War Coalition.
