Cherryade Gets Us Good with Got You Good Music Video

by Liz J

Who wants to be boring? Certainly not the pop duo Cherryade. With their new single, Got You Good, already making waves on the music scene, the no-holds-barred duo has now released the official music video for Got You Good – and it’s good!

The video, which features leading lady Ella as Fortune Ella the Fortune Teller, is as colourful as one could expect from this alt-pop band. But, despite Ella’s bangin’ shades and enough magenta to set your eyeballs on fire, the song is far from superficial. In fact, Ella explains that the song was inspired by a very real and troubling personal story. “The track was written for a friend who was making some bad decisions, so it’s a bit of a wakeup call to sort your shit out and realise you deserve better,” Ella says. “I think a lot of people can relate to the lyrics and have been in similar situations at one point or another.”

Got You Good is the latest to come from the band’s debut mini album, Fractured Fairytales – an album which has managed to grab the attention of TIME magazine, Nylon, Clash Magazine, Radio 1, BBC Introduction and The Guardian. The band also made it to the coveted Spotify New Music Friday playlist as well as the Buzzfeed summer playlist, cementing their place in the highly-competitive world of pop music.

Formed during their years together in Catholic school, Cherryade was a culmination of pent-up frustration with the same-old songs being pumped out by the music industry, and Ella and Alex’s love for artists like MIA, Lil’ Kim, Santigold and Amanda Blank. Ella and Alex had a lot to say, and music was the platform from which to do exactly that.

Fractured Fairytales is available now featuring tracks like Blah Blah, The Crown (which solidified Cherryade’s place in modern-day alt-pop in a huge way) and the title song, Fractured Fairytales. With 9 solid tracks of uncensored, unbridled pop glory, you’d better get ready to have your eardrums rattled.

Cherryade is also currently working on various projects for 2018, including a remix of one of their hit songs which will feature a rising grime artist which is sure to impress fans.
