The Naked Feedback Drop Video For Latest Single 'The Goodbye'

by Cameron Arndt

Blantyre-based alt rockers The Naked Feedback have now released a startling video for their recent single 'The Goodbye.' The track is their first release since last year's 'Something Wicked' EP and follows the tabloid-bothering video for the title track from that record.

Something Wicked depicted the band as cult leaders in a church and - while the video was to most a high concept, intriguing piece of art - complaints from the church where it was filmed (for which the band had permission) led to the group appearing on the front of a number of national newspapers.

The publicity hasn't dimmed their enthusiasm or willingness to court controversy, however, as the new video for The Goodbye - a punchy, rocking single with a more focused direction than some of the 'Something Wicked' tracks - sees the four band members invading a house in a somewhat-Clockwork orange style, with their all-white garb enphasising the comparison.

The group take the family in the house hostage with a bunch of increasingly surreal goings on leading to them staging a birthday party with the unwilling participation of their victims. Whether this will provoke outrage from any quarter remains to be seen but the video is certainly a visual triumph. It was filmed all in one take with the band, the actors and the filming team from Shootback productions all combining to create an intricate, involving tale which looks fantastic even as the goings-on are somewhat shocking.

The group - frontman Dean Anderson, his brother and guitarist Callum Anderson, bass player Jack Oliver and drummer Derek Whiteford - will play their first show of 2019 next month at the prestigious King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. The band have previously played sell out shows at the venue and will be hoping for the same again as they headline on February 21st.
