The East Coast rapper known as Glitch Arsonist G5 has released his latest LP album, “The Great Tribulation.” The record is composed of 9 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 30 minutes. It is the most recent official release from Glitch Arsonist since his spring 2013 album, “Ten Years of Writing.” Both LPs are produced and distributed on New York's independent music label, the Establishment Records. Backed with unstoppable beats, bass, rhymes and lines, “The Great Tribulation” is the latest in what is sure to be a long series of titanic records from Glitch Arsonist G5.
Glitch Arsonist cites as main artistic influences only one legendary rapper, Nas.
“I used to always try to top Nas' album lyrically after every [album] he dropped,” writes Glitch Arsonist. “He used to put me in the real lyrical mood and mental state and would have me rapping about similar content.”
Intuitively, “The Great Tribulation” is packed with many of the same attributes and qualities which have made Nas' music so integral to the lasting power of the hip-hop movement. Glitch Arsonist's thought-provoking lyrics, aggressive vocal delivery and pounding, thumping back beats drive his record from start to finish like a steam engine gone off the rails. His long-standing promise to restore the rap scene to its former glory by bringing back the “REAL hip hop” sound was partially fulfilled by “Ten Years of Writing,” and “The Great Tribulation” brings his goal even closer.
Glitch Arsonist G5 got his start by recording “dis” records during the Nas / Jay-Z feud in the early 2000s.
“During that era my 'hood was split up into record labels (cliques, groups),” writes Glitch, “and we were all making dis records at each other at my niggaz crib on his karaoke machine. We used to go outside with a radio playing our songs to get a response for it, to see how good it was and for bragging rights and competition.”
The response, as it turned out, was strong. By the time he was 15, Glitch had attracted the attention of a manager.
“He pushed me to record my first album and make songs. He got me the beats and I used to rap my songs to him in his car when he came through to see if it was good enough to record in the studio. They were always good enough to record, but that helped me keep my skills sharp and to try to produce my best work, as well as using his guidance to learn how to perfect and master the recording process.”
Glitch Arsonist printed 1000 CDs and sold them on the street. 700 albums deep, everything started to fall into place. His latest record is undoubtedly his greatest work to date, founded on more than ten years of writing, rapping, and putting everything he's got into making straight-up, heavy-hitting hip-hop records.

The composer and producer of digital music known as Burgo has released his debut dance single, “Hit It.” The track has been distributed to iTunes, Beatport, and all of the relevant music outlets the Internet has to offer with an official drop date of 13 September 2014. Billed variously online as progressive house music, electro- house music, and simply EDM, “Hit It” is the latest example of dance music done right from the independent music producers of Australia.
Burgo is described online as a veteran, professional DJ with many years of experience spinning discs at parties and in dance clubs. Having played enough music by other people to know he could do it himself, Burgo became addicted to producing his own tracks, and the present release of “Hit It” is evidence that he can mix beats with the best of them.
Asked to cite some DJs with whom he has performed, the modest producer politely declines.
“It’s irrelevant whom he has supported as a DJ,” says one Burgo representative, echoing Burgo's own thoughts on the matter. “You're only as good as the last DJ set you performed and we can safely say he has supported some of the biggest names in the music industry.”
Burgo's live performances have created a sprawling, loyal fan base for him. His official bio describes his act as a sure thing, an inarguably good time, an energetic performance which unites any crowd in back beats and grooves.
“One thing is for sure,” writes Burgo's A&R rep, “what you see is what you get. There's nothing fake about this mix-master and crowd-pleasing legend.”
Although Burgo's “Hit It” debut has been shipped with a release date of 13 September, it has been available for pre-sale for several days. Early signs indicate that this DJ's first foray into producing his own tracks is bound to be just the start of a long line of power-packed dance titles. Smooth, groovy, stylish and infinitely danceable, “One Should See Sound” by Bells and Robes is a record that anyone with ears can get into right away.
Bells and Robes cite as main artistic influences such various musicians as Flying Lotus, Flume, Beats Antique, Frank Sinatra, the Flaming Lips, and Darkside. As might be imagined, their sound takes various cues from each of these and arrives at its own character with a cool, jazzy ambiance and a crisp, clean overtone. “Great composers of the past once created 'absolute music,'” they write. “This music was given the title because it had no meaning and simply wished to express the pure emotion felt and heard by the listener without narrowing itself down to a tangible meaning. Though they acknowledge that there is more to their record than mere music, the actual listening experience is a mellow, expansive one which calms and remains invigorating at the same time.
“Bells and Robes has always attempted to make music that draws visual imagery into the listeners mind through the use of psychedelic textures and ambient elements,” they explain. “This EP hopes to continue on that voyage to unite both sound and vision into one form that allows listeners to take whatever meaning they may wish from the music.”
