Amy Winehouse Exhibition Opens in Camden’s Jewish Museum

An exhibition which pays homage to Amy Winehouse and her Jewish roots has opened in Camden’s Jewish Museum.

The exhibition showcases many of Amy’s prized possessions including her treasured guitar and many previously unseen photos.

Museum curator Elizabeth Selby said of the exhibit: "We wanted to show Amy in a slightly different light to how she has been perceived in the media."

In order to do this, many unique and unexpected items are on show including Jewish cookbooks which belonged to the late singer and also records.

As well as showing many interesting items, many are also accompanied by captions which Amy’s family, most notably her brother Alex, have helped to put together.

When asked about his sister, Alex said: "Amy was someone who was incredibly proud of her Jewish-London roots.

"We weren't religious, but we were traditional. I hope, in this most fitting of places, that the world gets to see this other side not just to Amy, but to our typical Jewish family."

Alex recently very publically claimed that it was Amy’s bulimia that finally claimed her life back in 2011 rather than her years of substance abuse.
