It has been confirmed that Britney Spears has left the X Factor USA.

Rumors were flying around the internet last month saying that the star might be leaving after only one season after it emerged that the show’s boss Simon Cowell had been unhappy with her half-hearted appearance.

Website TMZ claims that Britney made the decision to depart herself in order to focus on her career in music and an insider told them: "Britney loves Simon, she likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music.”

A show insider told US Weekly: "Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn''t working."

It is thought that Britney is now back in the recording studio to work on her new album and has been working with a number of big names including will.i.am who she collaborated on the song “Scream and Shout” with.

Insiders claim that Britney is eager to go back on the road again so that he can showcase her new material but commitments to the X Factor would have made that impossible.

The new judging line up for the next series of the show has not yet been revealed although judge L.A. Reid has already confirmed that he will also not be returning to the panel for another series.
